Question: I was wondering when would you recommend feeding Top Dress and Octane? Our show is October 9, 2008. And how can I push a goat and lamb?

Answer: Brock,

Thank you for your email. I am assuming you are interested in Champion Drive Topdress and Power Fuel (both are High Octane products).

Both Champion Drive and Power Fuel can be fed all the way through the feeding period, and both will provide benefits to goats. The basic feeding rate is 4 ounces per day up to 8 ounces per day.

For producing faster growth rate in lambs and goats, High Octane Power Fuel is the product of choice. Feed 1/4 to 1/2 lbs (4 to 8 ounces) per day depending upon how fast you want the lambs or goats to grow.

Question: Can Powerfill be given to goats?

Answer: Thank you for your email question. The answer is no. Powerfill is designed for pigs and contains ingredients and micro nutrient fortification intended for pigs.

A better option for goats are our two topdresses: High Octane Power Fuel which supplies energy and much, much more; and High Octane Champion Drive Topdress which does a great job at building at top in goats.

Question: I am the owner of 2 female goats. I am not sure of their breed since these are my first goats. I was just wondering what I could do to keep my goats from getting ticks. We have been finding numerous ticks on ourselves, as well as our goats. Is there any type of medicine that I can put on them to prevent tick infestation? I have also noticed that the majority of the ticks are coming from in, and around the barn. Could I put some sort of pesticide in the barn?

Answer: Kimberly,

Thank you for your email. I am not sure exactly what can be done for ticks in goats. I suggestion asking your local Purina dealer what sprays or pesticides he has available in their store that might alleviate this problem.

Question: I am feeding Honor N-timidator. Do I need any mineral supplement mixed with this feed? Also, we have purchased a sack of Powerfill, when do I start feeding that? Our county fair show is September 10th.

Answer: Thank you for your e-mail and for choosing HONOR. Actually the HONOR Powerfill is a Showpig product and not intended to feed to other species. So, I would not feed Powerfill to goats.

However, we due have another product called High Octane Power Fuel that is an excellent topdress that can be fed to all show species. For goats, you will want to feed (1/2 of the yellow cup) per day per goat. This product will put shine and gloss to the goat’s skin and hair.

For muscle shape, we recommend HONOR Champion Drive at 1/4 to 1/2 lbs per day.
