Official Shows and Show Classifications

Purina Mills recognizes these shows and local events as official show entries

National Shows: Houston, Ak-Sar-Ben, American Royal, San Antonio, NAILE, Arizona National, Ft. Worth, National Western.

Livestock shown at National shows not listed may be eligible for awards, but only after formal approval by a Show Chow^® Feed representative. Contact your Show Chow® Feed Dealer for more details.

State Shows: Any State Fair or approved State Show.

District/Regional Shows: Any show with a junior division open to residents of four or more counties.

County Shows: Any show with a junior division open to residents of three or fewer counties.

If the show you are submitting does not fit into one of the above categories, you must receive prior approval from your local Show Chow^® Feed Sales Rep.  


Show Chow^® Feed Animal Categories:

MARKET ANIMAL AWARDS:

Grand Champion: This animal is the top placing animal overall at any given show (Example – Grand Champion Market Barrow).

Reserve Grand Champion: This animal is the 2nd top placing animal overall at any given show (Example – Reserve Grand Champion Market Wether).

Breed Champion: This animal won 1st in class, and then won the top animal placing for a specific breed (Example – Champion Duroc Barrow, Champion Suffolk Wether, or Champion Maine Anjou Market Steer).

Available to national winners.

Reserve Breed Champion: This animal won 1st or 2nd in class, and then won the 2nd placing animal for a specific breed (Example – Reserve Champion Duroc Barrow, Reserve Champion Suffolk Wether, or Reserve Champion Maine Anjou Market Steer).

BREEDING ANIMAL AWARDS:

Supreme Champion: This animal was a Breed Champion, and then won overall Supreme Champion over all breeds (Example – Supreme Champion Heifer, or Supreme Champion Bull).
Breed Champion: Much like the Market Division. There could be many at a given show (Example – Champion Hampshire Breeding Gilt, Champion Dorset Ewe, or Champion Hereford Heifer).
Reserve Supreme Champion: There could be many at a given show. (Example – Reserve Hampshire Breeding Gilt, Reserve Champion Dorset Ewe, or Reserve Champion Hereford Heifer).
